I am posting this in here because I do not see any place in which I can post
DMP-related issues.
This is a long history, because I found myself into a lot of problems to
make this solution work in my scenario. Here I go:
I have a client in which I installed 3 Hosts for virtualization. I
installed Microsoft Hyper-V R2 (the version that comes alone, no Windows). I
want to try DPM 2007 on the client for backing up the virtual machines
directly from the hosts. I installed correctly DPM over Windows Server 2008
R1, as I had a lot of problems to install DPM 2007 on the 2008 R2 version,
even after installing every necessary component by separate and upgrading, as
someone suggested in a blog.
Well, the thing is that I could finally install it correctly on Windows
Server 2008 x64 R1, and then I updated it with SP1 (as this is the version
that supports Hyper-V Servers). But, after installing SP1, I could not browse
or search for my Hyper-V nodes when trying to install the protection agents
in the DPM 2007 console. I had to install another patch, and then I could
find my servers by doing a search. The patch is this, in the case anyone
needs it too:

This was ok, but then I had another issue. The Hyper-V servers will not
install the agent and they gave the error 319, which is due to the firewall
on the Hyper-V hosts. I investigated a lot and then I solve the 319 error by
doing what this guide suggest:

The 319 error then was solved, but then I came across another problem, the
error 313 while installing the DPM agent on the Hyper-V hosts. I then
followed another guide from Microsoft to get installed the agent manually:

And again, I could install the first Host by doing that. But my problems
continued, as I could not install the other agent on the other 2 hosts, the
error 313 was not giving up on them. This is part of what the error said on
my hosts (I renamed to computername.domain for security purposes):
Error 313: The agent operation failed because an error occurred while
running the installation program on computername.domain
Error details: Fatal error during installation (0x80070643)
Recommended action: Review the log files on computername.domain :
[windir]\temp\msdpm*.log and take appropriate action. Retry the operation,
and if the error persists, restart the computer and then retry the operation
again.

Protection Agent -- Installation failed.
I tried again after disabling completely the firewalls on both, the DPM
Server and the Hyper-V hosts. The same error 313. There is no description
on the Microsoft page that describes DPM's logs for this number (313).
Now I do not know what another step to follow. If anyone out there can help
me with this, I will appreciate it a lot. I hope at least I can help with the
first issues.
