Windows 7 - Excel 2008 spreadsheet

When I enter the figure 36 for cell K17 the date 2/06/04 appears in
the cell. What is causing this and how do I fix it ?

Change the display formatting of the cell from Date to General or Number.

Or maybe you should just reinstall Windows.  That would probably fix it.
