Well, I checked out the new MSN beta and found an ad module locked into the
upper right corner of the main screen!

Even though I've been pretty unhappy with the lack of attention from
Microsoft as regards MSN Premium, I've stayed with MSN primarily because of
the email. My wife especially likes the email, (she hates Outlook), because
of it's ease of use. Also it's less....well.... clunky than other online/web
based email, even though since upgrading to Office 2007 there's no spell
checker, and MSN 9.5 really doesn't play all that well with Vista.

But, if advertising is Microsoft's idea of a long overdue upgrade to MSN,
they've lost me. I refuse to pay for a browser with advertising in it!
There are too many alternatives out there.

Fercryinoutloud, even AT&T/Yahoo provides a perfectly serviceable home page,
not unlike the "new" MSN beta, WITH an ad module in exactly the same place on
the screen, but it's free with the dsl service.

Looks more and more like I'm just going to have to continue with my
conversion to IE7 and Windows Live, which i've been using for the last couple
of months and like, and drop MSN Premium. Too bad.

I didn't care for the ad either, but I'm hoping that it will be taken out
for those who pay for a subscription once this gets out of beta. I'll give
them benefit of doubt for now, but if it stays that will really suck.
