Important Message for Jonathan Kay...

Let's face it...this new version of MSN is not working on Vista and there is
no way to know what MSN is doing to fix this issue and the status to a
resolution.

We all were FORCED to upgrade to a version of the MSN Messenger that is not
working. We do not have the ability to go back to a version that worked for
us. Could MSN lift that force and allow us to go back to an older version
that worked, while the technical folks work out the bugs?

I would be willing to test the new version if I have a way to directly
contact and work with a technician.

Thanks,
Ruby

Greetings Ruby,I was also against the forced upgrade, but I am afraid it went

Greetings Ruby,

I was also against the forced upgrade, but I am afraid it went ahead anyway. They actually
have been forcing other versions prior to 8.5 for months, this is just the latest phase of
the forced upgrade process.

They will not stop the upgrade now sadly, as the sole reason is due to a security hole within
one of the libraries Messenger uses.

There are some ways to make 8.5 work again depending on what Windows version you are using
and/or if you wish to modify your Messenger executable. However, in some cases it may impair
functionality and does leave you open to that security risk (albeit a small risk).
