I downloaded ffdshow and the MatroskaSplitter to play MPEG-4 files and media
player will still not play. I have DivX installed on my computer. Should I
uninstall it? What am I doing wrong? System information says the ffdshow
codec is working OK.
Thank you,
David

What's the extension of these files? Does WMP display an error message
(if so, what is the exact text?), or does it only play audio or video?
It would be useful if you could open some of the files with GSpot -
http://www.headbands.com/gspot - and copy/paste the exact audio and
video codecs that are used in the files.

If the file has an .mp4 extension, try changing that to .mpg.

Just evaluated DivX 6.6.1 Codec a two days ago. * Need to install it with "Run as administrator" * After first install, many DivX encoded AVIs are shown "head up" (rotated 180 degrees) - same as with older versions of DivX decoder. I then uninstalled everything except the DivX DS Filter. After that, everything runs fine

DivX Codecs Windows 7 I downloaded DivX 6.5 Player with its codecs. Will Media Player 11 play DivX movies? When I open 'Options' and look under files in Media Player, the DivX codecs are not there. In the file types they are included under the avi umbrella. Check out DivX on Wikipedia. You could just go to www.divx.com and download the DivX player. Should do, might be worth grabbing Xvid also as that is quite common too
Windows Movie Maker; DivX? Windows 7 The file 1239145.divx is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker.
