Windows 7 - Media Player Error C00D1199

Hello

Window Vista Home Premium, SP 2.

Windows Media Player 11.0.6002

I have subscribed to a site that allows me to watch movies online.

When I select a movie the Media Player opens and after a few seconds a
message appears:

***Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support
the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the
file.***

When I click the help box provided it informs of an Error C00D1199.

It appears to be quite a common problem but as I am not very computer savvy
seek your suggestions / help to overcome this problem.

What's the file type of these movies (AVI, WMV...)?

it is possible that installing FFDShow -
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/FFDshow.htm - will fix this.

Thank you for your reply to my cry for help, Tim.

To answer your questions, I cannot establish the type of movie as the warning
message appears moments after Windows Media Player11 opens.
On my second computer that has Windows XP rather then Vista and same
Windows Media Player11, I can play the movie without problems. But again I
can not determine what type it is other then "p/video/play_stream".

Any other suggestions?

John

Did you try installing FFDShow?

I would suggest to look for a FAQ or other help on that movie website.
If you payed to subscribe, they should offer some kind of support as well.

Why do you still use Windows XP? Windows 7 Give your reasons. Do you plan to upgrade ever? If so, when and why? If you use both XP and 7, do you ever plan on ditching XP for good? What will you do when support is dropped to the point where this OS will be problematic with new hardware? Personally I am waiting for Windows 8 to release a second service pack. XP sucked when it first came out until SP1. Even then, I find the moron-babysitting did not work, it had to enabled then disabled to be disabled for real. Sigh. . .
