Windows 7 - Windows Media Player 11 will not play .mp4

I am having a problem with Windows Media Player version 11.0.5721.5268 not
playing .mp4. The program states that it cannot play a file with that
extension.

Installing the following 2 packages will allow WMP to play MP4 files:
- Haali's Media Splitter (aka MatroskaSplitter): http://haali.su/mkv
- FFDShow: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/FFDshow.htm
