Thanks Charlie. You would not happen to know how to get system with Vista to
see the XP x64 system in the Network (in Explorer), would you?

Verify that the computers are in the same workgroup. In the x64
partition go into properties to turn on sharing. Have a great day.

The XP systems can see and access the Vista system and see and access each
other. The Vista system cannot see either XP system when it is booted up
and they are already running. In the XP sytems, simple file sharing is
turned on, and each have folders shared, with modifying files allowed.
All are on WORKGROUP.

1.) who cares if you can see them, as long as you know they're there, you
can connect to them.
net use E: \\windowsxpmachine\share
or, if you can't resolve the name, then use:
net use E: \\192.168.0.100\share where you substitute the windowsxp machine
IP address for the one I used here.
2.) If you still care, make sure you have enabled NetBIOS over TCP/IP on
both sets of connections. If you're dependent on a lame DHCP server that
does little more than hand out IP addresses, subnet mask and gateway, but no
actually useful information, you may want consider reserving addresses on
the DHCP server and then using fixed IP addresses that line up with those on
the clients so that you can set the features you need.

Sure seems to me if you can't see it anyplace to click on it, you can't
connect to it.
Thanks for the 'net use E:\\" . So even if Vista doesn't locate and show
a device in the network, if I have the IP from the router I can still
connect to it. Ok.

Vista HP cannot share printer on XP Windows 7 Vista Home premuim. Network settings correct on both PCs. From Vista I can ping the XP by IP address and by Computer name. From Vista I can map a drive on the XP using either IP or computer name. However present but double-click says no access. Shared printer on XP is not found by Vista Add Printer. XP can see Vista in Network Places and double-click shows shared folders. Vista -XP Networking. . .HELP! Windows 7 I have a small office network, consisting of 4 XP's and 1 Vista. Before we got the Vista, all computers were on the same network, sharing files & printers. Since the Vista, nothing seems to work right. The Vista can "see" one of the XP's, and the 3 other XP's can only each other. . . I have done the LLTN (?) download on all XP's. I have enabled NetBIOS on the Vista. All machines can "ping" each other so I know they're out there somewhere!!! I

Unable to add Vista Business workstation to Win2K3 domain Windows 7 Hi All, This issue has me ripping my hair out, it is very frustrating. . . We recently purchased a Dell workstation with Windows Vista Business pre-installed. Upon connecting this workstation to the network, I am unable to join is it's FQDN, it is a domain that I did not setup. In one office, office A, is server A, which is a Domain Controller with DNS installed. In the other office, office B, is server B, which is also a Domain Controller, but does not have DNS installed. I have configured our Vista workstation with a static IP address in office B, with DNS set to server A and the same gateway as server B. The
