Here's the available info on the two.

Windows Live Calendar requires a premium plan.

Agree . . . just downloaded the newest version of WLM cause I stopped
receiving all hotmail emails . . . then, discovered that the calendar button
is "no longer". A real bummer! Sure wish that MS did not discontinue the
button . . . what was the big deal? Now, I need to go into my hotmail
account via the web to access the calendar. Doesn't seem like progress to
me?!?

Hi, ghrad.

Remember that WLM is still BETA, which means it ain't done yet! Who knows
what wonderful features the WLM Team has in store and will be weaving into
this fabric before it goes RTM (Release to Manufacturing)? Or maybe even in
the next build (after 12.0.1184), due Real Soon Now?  ;^}

What a bummer. Just when I have really got into using the calendar for all my
appointments and reminders, they take it away. I uninstalled my Works
Calendar, guess I will need to reinstall it again. If they don't put the
calendar I will be looking at alternatives to WLM.

Just a little tip
I used the Calender in Desktop Beta as well and when I noticed it gone in
version 12.0.1184 I added my calendar to my home page in IE7 so now when I
launch IE7 it opens my Welcome to MSN page as well as my calendar in another
tab. It's actuall better this way as you launch it automatically so you don't
have any delay like you did when launching from the mail program. I know the
delay was only a few seconds but it drove me nuts when the mail program would
open another instance of IE7 when I already had one opened

We calendar-o-philes can start a grass roots movement - every week send in
customer feedback requesting the Calender Live to be incorporated into Live
Mail gratis - no "premium" membership required. Obviously if they don't
provide it I'll still conitnue to use the on line calendar but I'm interested
to see how it will incorporate with Mobile 6

open IE7
then open the page for your calendar in a new tab
click on TOOLS on your menu
Click on Internet Options
under the General Tab you have Home Page with a USE CURRENT radio button
click that and it will make any web pages and tabs you have open as your
HOME so whenever you launch IE7 it will open these pages
Personally I use My Welcome to MSN page and now my calendar but you can use
any web pages you want

The most I had opening at any one time was about 5 but that really slowed
the launch down quite a bit with the 2 I currently have in only takes a few
seconds

Good luck

This is only if you are using IE7
When you launch IE7 you have a home page
then you open a new tab by clicking on the new tab icon CTR+T or whatother
way you choose to do so

How you can do it is by using My MSN as my home page I right clicked on the
HOTMAIL link and choose "open in new tab" (on my msn page the HOTMAIL link is
at the top left of the page) this launched HOTMAIL in a new Tab so I had one
tab open with my home page and a 2nd tab open with Hotmail then I chose
Calendar on my hotmail page this is a selection near the bottom of the left
sidebar
then follow the directions of making these pages your home page in the
previous messages in this thread

Personally I prefer the older calendar to the new "live" calendar because
the older one doesn't have any advertising so another way to do this is to
open a new tab and then do a search for msn calendar or calendar.msn.com and
is you are signed into passport it "should" open up your calendar in the
older style with no advertising then follow the previous instructions for
making this part of your home page

By doing this you will on occasion have to re-enter your msn passport info
to re log into the calendar I have to do it about once every 10 days or so
and as it only takes a moment it is really not a big hassle just a typical
glitch to be expected with software of this magnitude IMHO

I hope this clarifies your problem if not let me know and be as specific as
you can so maybe I can help

Good Luck

Thanks for the info, yes I am using IE7, but also "Windows Calender" not
Hotmail, so I suppose that is were I am having a difficulty.

Yep you are correct that is where the issue is. I am assuming that you are
using Vista then. I guess you could put calendar in your start up file and
then it would launch whenever you turned on your computer but I am still
using XP and know nothing about Vista so can't say for sure how it works.

By the way How do you like Vista ? Good , Bad or Indifferent !
I'm not going to upgrade myself until I get a new computer - probably in
January but I like to hear peoples honest opinions compared to the hyperbole
of the technocrati journalistas.

Yes I am using Vista Home Premium. I find it great with very few problems,
that is in spite what others say. I can only speak as I find.

Hi MachineGun,

Thank you for taking the time to post your question about calendar features
within Windows Live Mail. We're thinking about adding calendar features to
enhance Windows Live and we believe keeping track of appointments and events
are definitely import within Windows Live Mail.

Thank you again.

Brian

Even a link button to our online calendars like the Beta version had in the
left hand side bar (maybe between Contacts and Feeds) would be a wonderful
thing and make a lot of people happy Although being able to download the
calendar to my desktop so I could work on it when I can't get online would
be aces.

Thanks
