Windows 7 - WLM Export to Exchange

Asked By Urbane Tiger on 28-Jul-08 04:18 AM
gDay,

Has anyone ever used the File->Export->Messages->Microsoft Exchange option.

When I tried it it popped up an OK/Cancel dialogue with the message "This
will export messages from Windows Live Mail to Microsoft Outlook or
Microsoft Exchange", it then asked me which folders I wanted to export, then
its flashing progress bars sprang to live and after a few minutes it said it
was finished, . As far as I can tell it write nothing anywhere. When the
progress bars were flashing, I had WinPatrol, DiskMon and ProcExp running
but I saw no evidence of anything being written by wlmail.exe

If I use the File->Export->Messages->Microsoft Windows Live Mail option,
then after a short pause a dialogue box is displayed asking that I define
the folder into which the messages will be written. After than I get the
same select folders dialogue, then the flashing progress bars and after a
considerably longer time - say 5 minutes rather than 2, it says its finished
and yes all the mail is in the designated folder, In this mode there is
ample evidence from WinPatrol, DiskMon and procExp of disk write activity
whilst the progress bars are flashing.

Why doesn't the Exchange option ask me for an output destination, and what
else can I do to get three WLM users over to Outlook 2007.

TIA
