I have a ATI 650 TV Wonder and stream my OTA HDTV to my xbox 360. I notice
that the picture quality is not as sharp as my DirecTV that also uses the
same OTA antenna to watch local HDTV channels streaming to my xbox 360 (hard
wire, not wifi). Can this be fixed? Do you think the new cablecard pc will
have a similar issue? I would like to know since I am planning on buying the
new cablecard pc’s and let my Direct TV go.

I also have noticed a slight difference in quality over the xbox compared to
the cable box. Mine I am pretty sure is the connection to the TV, the xbox is
component and the cable box is HDMI. The sound is where i notice the main
difference but some colors and details etc. To be honest the picture quality
is not that noticeable.

So how much of a difference are you experiencing?

I connected the DirecTV/Tivo via component so that both connections are the
same. I still see a big difference. For example, I recorded the same
program on both Vista Media Center stream to xbox 360 as well as
DirecTV/Tivo. On the xbox 360, when seeing someone talking and smiling i can
see vertical lines across the teeth. I do not see that on the DirecTV scene
unless I pause the scene. Both are receiving the signal from a OTA antenna
and both are recorded on a dvr. (Tivo vs. Vista Media Center) The DirecTV
overall look is crisper and more polished. I want to upgrade to cablecard
and cancel my DirecTV since I like MCE more than Tivo and DirecTV no longer
sapports Tivo. I hope cablecard is better then ATI TV Wonder 650.

I said vertical lines, but I meant to say horizontal lines.

m looking to replace my aging DirectTV Tivos. First of all, my assumption is that Vista MCE can have 4 total tuners 2 analog and 2 digital. Does one of the to get DirectTV HD. I would anticipate installing two digital tuners and getting two HD DirecTV STBs and hook each one to the digital tuner. Is that possible? Additionally, if I want some analog recordings, can I just get regular DirecTV receivers and hook them to the analog tuners if they exist? Any help and explanations would be greatly appreciated. What are all my options for getting DirecTV HD to work with Vista MCE? Please don't suggest going to cable because I would except I need the Sunday NFL Ticket. Thanks. Vista Television Windows 7 Hi there, I've been using Vista since it has come out and since my main TV is located connected thru the Vista PC i've had almost a year or so of watching TV with Vista. I'd have to say that at this time I've had just about enough switching back to MCE05, and Microsoft with their lack of effort or support on the HDTV end is helping out that much more. Basically I have one question, HOW DO YOU inside, 2GB out, and a Dual core processor. I'm about to give up on Vista if no one at Microsoft seems to care about the TV functions of their system. Help Please or I may turn to Mac Fanboy. topmoo2@hotmail.com Windows Vista Discussions Vista (1) BeyondTV (1) DirecTV (1) CmCyRw (1) PCIe (1) SnapStream (1) Warrior (1) Europe (1
DirectTV and MCE 2005 (or Vista) Windows 7 Hello, I'm currently considering getting DirecTV and I was wondering if any of you can share you experiences regarding interop between MCE and DirecTV hardware? I currently have basic cable (no STB) with Time Warner and I like that there any hardware I'll have to buy (I currently have two analog and one HDTV tuner)? Any help is appreciated, thanks! I'm curious what the experience is like. I tried digital cable about two years the setup like for the high definition channels? Do I use an output from the DirecTV STB to both the analog and HDTV tuners, or do I lose HD altogether? Thanks
