Have you called Dell? Wish I could be of more help, sorry.
There is a restore partition on your computer and there SHOULD be a
program to burn restore CDs or DVDs but the the restore program will
probably wipe the harddrive and restore the PC to exactly as it was the
day it left the factory so you probably do NOT want to do that.
To access recovery options on your PC, watch the initial boot screen,
it should show what keys to press to do a restore but, again, do not do
that unless you absolutely have to!

Windows 7 Vista back up for downgrade to XP I recently bought a laptop that did not come with a back up of my current vista so in case XP somehow fails, I can return to vista. My question is a back up that will work when I am on XP? I know the Vista "system restore" does not work on XP. I read somewhere else that I can copy paste my windows folder from C: drive directly onto an external harddrive, but if XP fails how do I put that onto my computer? - - abowlofrice SHOULD have a utility to create a set of recovery DVDs using the hidden recovery partition. What same drag and drop (UDF) program, or reader, onto the XP computer. You should at least find out what the software you can get hold of its equivelent to use in XP. Also check if you are be unreasonable to uninstall the current CD burning software from XP first, Then install the UDF software and recover your pictures onto the harddrive.
