Windows 7 - Alternatives to WMP ?

After upgrading to Vista WMP can't stream audio from any source. No one at
Microsoft I asked knows how to fix this problem.

My WMP-10 on my laptop (WindowsXP) streams perfectly. Unfortunately, Vista
won't allow uninstalling or downgrading WMP to previous versions.

I noticed that several people in this newsgroup have similar problems with
WMP-11.

What alternatives to WMP for streaming audio (e.g. internet radio) would you
recommend?

Thanks, Bill

winamp.com for audio and radio (see the channels for radio there are
hundreds of free radio stations)

and for video the best media player that plays almost anything with no
codecs needed www.gomplayer.com

I dont use media player anymore.. media player 11 was a peice of ugly junk!

I'd recommend using open source, like http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/info.html.

WMP 11 stopped working Windows 7 Some time back, WMP 11 stopped working in Vista Ultimate. Anywhere I click on a short cut or the file itself, all I see is the cursor blink and nothing happens. Upon looking in the WMP directory, I notice all the files there have the date of 11 / 2 / 2006 except EXE, and WMPSHARE.EXE have the date of 8 / 15 / 2007. This is about when WMP stopped working. Either there was an update or something else happened? I have downloaded the XP (?) version of WMP 11 from MS but it won't install - says you can't install an older version? And of course, you can't uninstall WMP 11. How can I get back to the original, working version? WLW Windows Vista Discussions Windows XP (1) Windows Vista (1) Windows Media (1) Vista (1) XP (1) MSKBs
