Windows 7 - 90% of album art suddenly disappeared from library

I have Vista x64 Ultimate. For some reason when I started WMP11 yesterday,
virtually 90% of my albums have lost their album art.
Any ideas why this might happen or how I might recover it? If I browse the
folders with Windows Explorer, the folder thumbnails still show the artwork,
so it is there.
Do I really have to use Find Album info for EVERY one? Is there a way to do
this without updating anything else (I do not want to change track
information).
thanks

Do the album folders have a hidden system file named Folder.jpg?
If so, and if your tracks are MP3s, then read my blog article at
http://dalepreston.com/Blog/2007/04/windows-media-player-and-album-art.html.
It talks about my ID3 Embed Pictures program.
If the Folder.jpg image doesn't exist you may be stuck. There are
third-party editors that will look through your library and download artwork
from Amazon for all of the albums in your library. This google search may
help:
http://www.google.com/search?q=wma+mp3+tag+editor+amazon+%22album+art%22.

Thanks for your reply - I found a link about forcing a rebuild of the
database by renaming the existing .wmpdb file. The artwork has reappeared
now. Not sure why it went though...

A note to Windows Vista Team Windows 7 I'm quite angry with Microsoft for releasing Vista before it's ready, I've wasted 8 hours of my time in a small replacing my desktops with laptops, and I won't be buying any more that have Vista on until Service pack 2 comes out. If I had the time, I would send it can be taken back to the retailer for a refund. If everyone took back vista, Microsoft would be in a sorry state now. I'm sure it would cost more to administer that than they have generated from the sale of vista. For gods sake, make sure that "Son of Vista" works first time! I know that it's us humans that program the bugs into ethos of the company when it was originally set up. A unhapy user! Installed Vista dual boot, think I screwed up! Windows 7 Hey gang, I think I have messed up here. I just installed 64 bit Vista Ultimate, retail full version, in what I thought was a dual boot environment. I added a new sata hard drive, and installed Vista on it. Now, I do not get an option when I boot to choose wich OS to boot to, it only boots into Vista. Under Vista, it shows as my C drive, I see the partion on the other hard drive my XP Pro is on, however under Vista it shows as drive E? Dangit, I thought I had read enough to know what I installed mine. If you don't have dual boot, it usually means that the Vista installation did not see your XP drive (was it unplugged?) if so that's just and choose the XP drive to boot to XP. If I don't do anything Vista will boot first. If worst comes to worst, use VistaBootPro on your Vista drive to
Lions and Tigers and Vista. . . . Oh my!! Windows 7 Hello, I am getting the hebbie-jebbies reading all this dialogue about the dissatisfied customers of Vista and those reverting back to XP. We recently purchased a Gateway with Vista pre-installed. It is still sitting here on the floor waiting to get up and it up and send it back!! I now know from reading in the discussion group, Vista is not compatible with Picture It 2002 which is an ultimately important feature that I years ago on my present Gateway with the XP system. I have recently learned that Vista will probably not be compatible with my printer which is a HP 1315 All In feat to revert back to XP when the new computer is already pre-installed with Vista Home Premium and some deem it a very stupid option. If I decide to do well. Although it appears that there are some very staunch activists on the side of Vista, it also seems very clear that it is a very popular opinion that Microsoft has done its customers a disservice by marketing Vista. I suppose the old adage 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' seems
tired of this. . . Windows 7 I've been a Microsoft fan for years but this Vista situation has just done it for me. I bought a new top-of -the-line laptop with Vista on it. The amount of pain I've put up with over the past couple 3 other machines. I know the reader may be bad but my gripe is that Vista goes merrily on its way without even mentioning that something didn't work. I need A to B, I either have to be real quick about it or wait until Vista gets over its presumption that what I really wanted was this or that part of the tree expanded. You've got about a second before Vista moves everything on you. You have to wait with your item selected until all this and then go hunt down your destination directory again. Then wait again to be sure Vista isn't going to move everything again. I don't know how many times the been through all this a time or two. Considering the transition from XP SP2 to Vista, I have never seen so many things get broken all at once. Vista does not make things better or easier - quite the reverse. I now spend more time
2 surprises of vista Windows 7 1st surprise was that I never believed Microsoft was capable of making such a horrible OS (vista) especially after making XP that was very good, and especially in 2007. but the second was astonished to see that there were actually people who did not realize how horrible vista really is, and not only that, but they show determination to a fanatic degree & support this piece of trash! (vista) Not only that, but they have the nerve to call people like me and others who clearly comprehend far more than they, stupid! The vista fanboys give me the creeps. . . if people cant understand such simple things. . . what can you mean above. . you might burn up the last few neuron cells that are left after vista degradation Windows Vista Discussions Windows XP (1) Windows Vista (1) Oracle (1) Linux (1) Vista (1) XP (1) CarGodZeroOne (1) MacOS (1) Please, XP
