I have recently installed Vista on a Toshiba Laptop. Some Windows updates
fail to install with an error 800706BA. Can anyone tell me how I delete these
failing updates so that I can get them down loaded again and attempt to
reinstall?
Thanks

Have you tried rebooting and then open WU again. Which updates fail and =
what error message are you getting with the failure. Can you post it =
here in it's entirety

Looks like you could have a problem with RPCSS? Is it running?
Try executing (in a cmd window)
sc queryex rpcss
What do you see?

I have the 800706BF failure (having got rid of the 800706BA failure, I
hope!). RPCSS is running.
Any ideas as to what to do now would be appreciate - and also probable cause
of this unpleasant situation.
Thanks.

Problems With Clean Install Windows 7 Prior to my "blue screens, " I ran XP Pro SP2 with IE7. My laptop manufacturer, Toshiba, advised me to do a clean install with my Recovery Disk, to which I agreed given the severity of my problems. Having reinstalled Windows and my production programs, I now have two Windows related problems: 1) I cannot install IE7 after reviewing the steps of my past threads rolled back to IE6 through System Restore, which gives rise to 2) I cannot use Windows Update since the screen indicates that I am not the Administrator, even though Control Panel, User Accounts indicates that I am.
