I would NOT recommend attempting to install SP1 unless and until it's
offered by Windows Update!

Clear out your temporary internet files etc.
Try (the sometimes magic) renaming the SoftwareDistribution folder just in case there's
corruption in there somewhere -
1. Stop the Windows Update service (make sure you are logged on as an Administrator)

Start button || Control Panel ||System and Maintenance ||Administrative Tools
Double-click Services
(Provide the Administrator password or confirmation if prompted to do so.)
Right-click the Windows Update service and click Stop.

2. Click Start, type %windir% in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

Locate and rename the SoftwareDistribution folder.

3. Start the Windows Update service

Start button || Control Panel ||System and Maintenance ||Administrative Tools
Double-click Services
(Provide the Administrator password or confirmation if prompted to do so.)
Right-click the Windows Update service and click Start.

This procedure will erase your history on the Windows Update Site. Not important.

Don't forget to reboot, then try the update again. If there was any corruption in that
folder, it would be gone by now.

You state that you have downloaded the full file, then use that file instead. Also make
sure you don't have your anti virus running in the background or anything else that could
muck up the installation. If you're using the full file, then disconnect from the
internet. Before reconnecting to the internet remember to turn on the Anti virus software
again.

If still no joy, then contact MS (PA Bear has already supplied that information) -

Please post back with your feedback to assist others.
