Windows 7 - updates

I have my updates to automatically install, for the past few weeks, it
says updates are ready for your computer and I click on install and it
does not do anything.  Looking for a quick fix,

My pleasure.  For my next trick I am taking up mind reading so I can
determine what operating system and service pack your using.  Then I will
concentrate real hard to see if I can determine if you received any error
codes.  Fell better now?

To assist us please post as much information as possible including your
version of Windows etc.



For Vista:
UPDATES FAIL TO INSTALL
1. Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button , clicking All Programs,
and then clicking Windows Update.

2. In the left pane, click View update history.

3. Find an update for Windows that has failed to install, and then
double-click the update to view more information.

Updates that have failed to install will display Failed under Status, next
to the update name.

4. In the Windows Update dialog box, next to Error details, review the error
code for the failed update.

5. Either follow the links in the Windows Update dialog box under More
Information or Help and Support to try to fix the problem, and then try
installing updates again by using Windows Update in Control Panel or post
back with the error code so perhaps someone may be able to assist further.

TaurArian,

The OP firmly stated he/she/it is looking for a "quick fix."  All those
links and words you posted may give the OP a brain aneurism.   I still think
the shut-down button is the best bet.

Michael, sometimes there are quick fixes and sometimes there are not.
I do not even know which operating system the OP is using or if there is a
specific error code.
I am giving the OP some things to consider apart from the *shutdown* button
you suggested.

The OP may even post back with more information regarding the operating
system, any specific error codes etc.

We try to help even though the information provided may be extremely vague
and misleading.

Fair enough.  A few things to remember when you post.
First of all your posts are being forwarded to a Usenet newsgroup
Second.  When asking a question or posting a problem it is imperative you try
and give as much information as possible, the most important being what
Operating System and service pack# you are using.  Also any error codes
related to the problem.
Third.  Because your posts are being read in a newsgroup, quote the text you
are replying to.
