Windows 7 - Windows explorer not working

I know this question has had to have been asked somewhere on here before, but I'm having some trouble finding it... and one with a decent answer too. So my problem is with Windows Vista... of course. Whenever I rename a folder, move a folder, delete a folder, or do anything else to a folder, it hangs... forever... I end up having to go into task manager and ending the process, where it tells me windows explorer is not responding. Does anyone have a fix for this?

Which firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware or security suite is installed?
There are some that cause problems which do not always appear immediately.
