Deleting email

Does anyone know how to set an option in Windows mail where the next unread
message will NOT automatically display after you delete a previous message?

I assume you are reading each message in its own window by double-clicking on

clicking on it. If so, when done reading that message, close the window,
then delete that message from the message list pane.
