Windows 7 - pop3 not sending or receiving

I am getting the following error when I try to send/receive pop3 email.  About
a month ago, I stopped being able to send email (error).  But I just ignored
it and used by webmail acct for sending.  Then, today I cannot receive.  I
triple checked all the Account settings.  They are correct - according to my
ISP (Internet America).

Here is the error:

As Microsoft indicates:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/813518
that error is usually caused by interference from an antivirus program.
Which antivirus are you running? Some of them cause problems with
Windows Mail over time. As a minimum, email scanning in the
antivirus should be turned off, although that may not be sufficient to
eliminate all bad effects. In a worst case scenario, your antivirus
may need to be uninstalled/reinstalled or replaced.

Email scanning in any antivirus should be disabled, for reasons
explained here:

As an alternative to replacing your antivirus, consider upgrading to
Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects =

overly intrusive antivirus programs:

Delete a secondary Hotmail account? Windows 7 I have set up Hotmail with my Ntlworld account, but then was persuaded to also add my secondary Gmail account. This has led to confusion, where messages for both accounts appear in my WL Mail Inbox, but when I reply to any message WLM sends the reply from my Ntlworld account, even when it was sent to the Gmail. I want to retain Hotmail (it took and I like the synchronisation), but I can only find how to delete a Hotmail account completely when looking through all the 'how to' links. The "Stream Write" error is likely coming from some program that is starting with Windows, not from Windows itself this kind of disc. Please insert a disc of the correct type or modify the settings of your complilation to make it compatible with the current dic. Disc required for complilation

Error message Windows 7 After WLM operates OK for 5 to 10 minutes I get an error message that is blank in the area that is supposed to show the problem. At without the green arrow is obviously the one with a problem but there is no error message to determine the problem.
