Windows 7 - Vista VPN connected, but not connected

Hi,

I am unable to get a working connection from my Vista home computer to my
Vista computer at work (my small business). I have set up the client
computer to accept VPN calls, and I have set up a VPN connection at home.

Every time I connect, Vista says that the VPN connection has been
successfully made, and a lot of bytes seems to be sent to the host, but the
recieved bytes always stop at 323 bytes. And the connection is unusable, I
cannot browse by using \\computername\sharename or by ip.

I have tried by turning off the firewall on the host, but it doesn't help. I
also checked the logs, and it seems that on the host computer, the
connection is at first accepted, but then immediately (and silently)
disconnected. The client however always thinks it is connected. On XP,
setting up VPN was fairly easy, but on Vista it seems totally impossible. I
have also tried different settings (connecting unencrypted etc) but nothing
helps.

What gives?

PS. At home, I'm running Vista Ultimate and at work Vista Business

Posting the results of ipconfig /all (after establishing the VPN) here may

Also, I can connect to the work computer using Remote Desktop just fine. But
VPN simply will not work...

Windows 7 Vista "local only" with 0.0.0.0 default gateway. Why Microsoft? Wh We're experiencing maybe we were getting something weird from our 2003 servers. However, I switched to manual IP and put in the correct gateway. It STILL showed 0.0.0.0 above the with the most current drivers. We also have these cards connecting fine with XP. Clearly Vista is hosing something up. I've seen lots of reports of this problem but nothing Hopefully it will be fixed with tomorrow's updates. p.s. all our machines have Vista Business. does http: / / support.microsoft.com / default.aspx / kb / 933872 / en-us apply to you if it corrects the problem. My guess is that it does not as setting the IP manually doesn't correct it and uninstalling and reinstalling the adapter does not either. But the problem persists. The strange thing is we see it more often on a LAN connection than wireless can you disable wireless on one of the machines, reboot, and post the been as prevalent over the last two weeks. Until then, my question is, why does Vista have a "Local only" mode at all? And since it is there, why isn't seen a problem like this in XP. What is the reason for this "feature" in Vista? I could see having the private network / public network security settings trying to keep the
