Windows 7 - Accessing the internet - wireless

Hi,
Sony Vaio with Vista is connected wirelessly
to a HOME network.
It can access all other computers.
Any one of them can access the Interment.
This one does not.

At work, this computer CAN access the Internet
(while wirelessly connected to the COMPANY network)

Seems to be a "setting" issue?
Any advise?

Posting the result of ipconfig /all may help.

Hi
It might be configured at work in a special way thta is not compatible with
Home Network.
Ask the IT guys at work on how to connected to a Home Network.

why are you using these specific DNS servers?. and you should not be
getting/using an attbi.com DNS suffix.

see http://dns.comcast.net/dns-ip-addresses2.php for some DNS servers.

I am not sure how to answer your question.
I did not set, intentionally , any of them.
Is it not Comcast setting?

(Comcast bought the local cable operation from ATT,
thus the ne1.client2.attbi.com, I think)

Said that - please look at my original problem,
repeated, below:

(Exception - AboutTime, a pronrams to "set" the clock, does access the
Internet)
It can access all other computers.
Any one of them can access the Interment.

what exact cable modem and router do you have? is it a combination device? if
that ipconfig /all that you posted was from your home while in the state of "no
Internet connectivity" I'd say that you have a DNS issue. Your time program
probably uses an IP address to access the Internet.

If you could set the DNS addresses statically in the machine you are having
issues with, we'd know this for certain.

If Comcast is handing out those DNS addresses, that is a problem. And if so, it
is probably something I can do something about.

I'd like to see an ipconfig /all from one of the computers that CAN access the
Internet..

Hi
You indicated that at work you can connect.
That means that your Wireless is basically OK.
Many work places have special setting for Wireless. Sometimes their settings
are not compatible with home networks.
If you play around with it might Not connect any more at work.
If you do not provide info about what kind of connection it is at work,
rather than Helping you we can end up hindering your system.

computer at home AND the Internet.

I can see that the "Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . :"
line on the VAIO was empty while the same line
on the Acer Notebook has: ne1.client2.attbi.com

How (exactly) can I "set" the VAIO Laptop with
this DNS (I am not sure if I am on the right track...)

Please advise what cable modem and router you have?

I'd like you to reset tcp/ip as the next step to see if you get different DNS
servers. To do this:

1. Select?Start?, click "All programs", then click "Accessories".

2. Right-click "Command Prompt", and click "Run as administrator". If you are
prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or
provide confirmation.

3. Please enter the following commands, and hit enter after each



netsh int ip reset

inconfig  /flushdns

4. Reboot your computer. See if you can access the Internet. If not, check
ipconfig /all again and provide the DNS servers.

your connection specific suffix SHOULD BE something like hsd1.ma.comcast.net and
not attbi..

My problem was solved .
I just by I changed the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
from specific #'s to "Obtain and IP address automatically".
