hello all
i'm not trying to be a pain but can someone give me as much
info on vista home pre 64bit memory . i had 2gig installed
and it runs fine so i got 2gig more added it vista reads
2048 (2gig).so i tryed reinstalling vista again and keep geting
(bsod) ? so i took out 2gig and installed vista and then added
the other 2gig and it worked vista reads (4096) 4gig . last night
i turned the system off and went to work come home booted up
and vista now reads (3582) ? also with 4gig vista likes to crash
alot as with 2gig it didn't crash but maybe 1 or 2 times in like
3 months ? my bios is reading it as 4gig and i ran cpuz and it's
reading it as 4gig but vista reads (3582) and yes i'm using 64bit
and no i can't find anything about (remaping) or anything like
that? i have a (asus) p5n-e sli m/b.
the thing i don't understand from the start is how comes when
i added the new memory from the start vista didn't read it as
4gig.and after restalling vista reads it. nothing has changed
i did the windows update and insatlled everything first and
then added the new memory ? also way it will not install with
4gig ie (bsod) everytime.i tryed clean install and upgrade and
no go only (bsod)? is this something that will be fixed with
(sp1). well thanks for your time ..

Have you run one the memory test available in Vista or one
of the freeware ones?
Perhaps your motherboard has problems when using 4GB.

Hi,
Please check this article for more information regarding your issue.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929605/en-us
It does show lesser than 4 GB in Vista even though the BIOS says that there
is 4 GB. There are no issues with the Memory of the computer and there is no
issue with the Windows Vista also. Since you are using a 64 Bit Version of
Vista, there is should have been no issues as this is pretty common issue
with Vista 32 Bit Version,
If this issue occurs on the system, then a Chipset Driver upgrade or a BIOS
Firmware Upgrade will fix this issue. please check with the sysetm
Manufacturer before you make any BIOS Changes. However you need to check
with the Computer Manufacturer if the BIOS (Firmware) of the computer
supports Memory Re mapping. Only if there is an option to enable this option
in BIOS this issue will be fixed. If not it will show lesser than 4 GB in
BIOS. However there will be no difference in the Performace of the system
eventhough it shows lesser Memory.

Windows installer 3.1 & IE7 fails to install Windows 7 3 weeks ago I upgraded my motherboard, processor, RAM & display card. Since I can't clean install a new windows XP cause my old system has all needed programs & settings to my needs (very hard I used to option of repair install, inserted the XP CD that gave me "upgrading windows", & all went OK, new drivers installed, removed old ones. Funny thing is my IE7 is goes till the point where registry editing starts & stops installation & rolls back changes to IE6 & windows restarts. . Same when I try to update Windows installer to 3.1, it stops installation at the point or registry changing & rolls back account, how come? Why both installation stops at the registery editing point? Trend Micro Housecall reported as a vulnerability in my system the missing update components', the one that corresponds to my OS is 'Microsoft JScript 5.6 on Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1 and Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2'.
