Comp shutting off

Asked By Everet31

Ever since I installed Vista, my system shuts down randomly. Sometimes it
takes a minute, sometimes it takes 10 minutes. I will just be working and it
shuts off. Windows does not shut down, the system just shuts off. It did
not do it with XP. I rolled back to Xp, and it stopped doing it, then I
reinstalled Vista, and it is doing it again. I have Vista Ultimate, but I
have always tried home, and it does the same thing. I have a Pentium D dual
processesor, with 2 GB of DDRII memory. Any help or suggestions would help.
I am also running and ATI 1300XL graphics card. I have updated all my
drivers. It is an ECS Elite 945A motherboard. Thanks.

Hello,

I don't understand: Vista doesn't shut down, but the system shuts off? What
does it do then exactly?

Greetings,
P. Di Stolfo

The machine just shuts off randomly. I'll be doing something, surfing the
net, using word, checking email, playing a game, and the machine just turns
off. Did not do it when I was using XP. Wondering if there is a piece of
equipment that is causing a problem.
