Windows 7 - HP 7200 All in One Printer

I just got this printer, so far I love it. It does everything I need and
more, but I have one small issue. Every time I try to fax something from the
HP Director, it comes up with a error message that says "Fax Scan Error" and
then closes. I can send just a cover sheet with no problems but this I can't
get to work at all.
I have tried running it as a admin and also to use the Compatibility mode to
Windows XP and still doesn't work. But here is the stupid part, on my kids
XP machine, I can send Faxes ok. Is this a HP problem or Vista problem? I
have been to HP's site with little help there. There fix is to uninstall the
program then reinstall it.
Thanks
Chuck

Hello Chuck
With the scanner can you do a scan to your PC as this error message is
normally related to a hardware failure, are you using the latest version of
HP's software as Director isnt supported under Vista. which 7200 are you
using is it the photosmart one or the officejet.
CHeck you software under www.hp.com.

The photosmart. This is the second HP printer I had that has done this. I
can scan pictures in fine, I can scan documents in fine and the printer
works great. It is just the fax part that is not working correctly.
I am not sure what else to do.

I should also add that the printer in through the network. Before I had
vista, it worked fine through a network. Maybe a network issue? But then why
would everything else work?
Also, I have Norton installed but turned it off during the installation.
Downloaded Windows Updates fail to install in Windows Update Windows 7 Re: XP Home Edition SP2. 1 / 6 / 09 Shenan Stanley offered remedial sequence of commands. I completed the first 3 steps but stalled out on the 4th (download Windows UpdateAgent & save to root of C: \ ). 1 / 15 / 09 JS provided commands to save downloaded step calls for: Start- --Run and type in a window pops up stating the latter windows file that I just typed in cannot be found. Why do you still use Windows XP? Windows 7 Give your reasons. Do you plan to upgrade ever? If so, when and why? If you use both XP and 7, do you ever plan on ditching XP for good? What will you do when support is dropped to the point where this OS will be problematic with new hardware? Personally I am waiting for Windows 8 to release a second service pack. XP sucked when it first came out until SP1. Even then, I find the moron-babysitting did not work, it had to enabled then disabled to be disabled for real. Sigh. . .
