Windows 7 - Vista running stuff I don't know about

Sometimes my hard drive light is flashing like crazy when I am not running
anything.  What is Vista doing behind my back?  Task Manager shows nothing
running.

Indexing? Maybe an antivirus scan or anti spyware. You have show tasks
from all users selected?

with vista you never know if its a virus gobbling up your files, or
vista eating up energy just for the heck of it.

DO you know that in these days where all technologies tend to be
greener, vista is creating far more global warming than any OS in the
history of computers?

For that alone reason it should be banned!

the idots who thought of how vista would be should be locked behind bars
in the same cage with criminal spanky de monkey... (its like hell being

Try looking in the Resource Monitor on the Performance tab of Task Manager.

Vista does indexing from time to time, this can cause extended HDD
(harddrive) activity. Also, Windows Defender and your virus scanner
occasionally scan through the HDD.

Process Monitor will show everything the system is doing. It can
record thousands of items per second, but usually processes
will show as blocks of entries.  Also, you can halt the scrolling,
or do a capture, then scroll back to see what was going on.

I don't see how someone's pointing out that you're obviously either
