Is it possible to remove the hibernate file on a Windows7 desktop machine. I have made sure that in power options the machine will never hibernate, but the system still prevents me deleting the 2.5Gb file.
Did you disable Hibernation from the power options setting in Control Panel? That'll remove the giant file.
From an elevated command prompt, POWERCFG -H OFF works on Vista, probably for Windows 7 as well. -- Zaphod Vell, Zaphod's just zis guy, ya know? - Gag Halfrunt
It does work in Win7, in fact it looks like it is the only way in Win7 to remove this file.
As far as I can see all the settings referring to Hibernate are OFF
Yea. That worked. Great. But I do not understand why the more nomal "Power" interface does not seem to do the job!
