Windows 7 - ATI HDMI audio help

Asked By SaraD925 on 08-Aug-10 12:52 PM
(First off, I am extremely new to this so I am sorry if I sound stupid)

I have connected an HDMI cable from my HP studio laptop to my RCA
television. My brother tried to help me but gets frustrated easily...
anyway he had me download the ATI 3400 HDMI audio drive I believe...
that was done but sound still is not working... In sound it says that
Digital Output Device (HDMI) high definition audio system is working...
When I try to test it still no sound works... still would not work after
disabling speakers/headphones also... I was told I have the ATI 3400
series on this computer and have Vista... Is there anything else I
should try? thank you so much

I also see under Sound that my headphones/speakers IDT High Definition
Audio CODEC is used... and in the control panel there is an IDT audio
settings listed with Digitial Output Device (HDMI) option listed... as
this has though is an option to set it as default playback device which
is not working... maybe this does not matter though... ugh thanks!

Are you able to hear sounds that is already playing on the laptop, if so
then you must switch your default to the HDMI then go and re open the
program.
- On VISTA do this
- Right click your screen.
- Go to personalize.
- On the left there is an option "connect to a projector or external
display".
- Click the speaker picture, and set the default to HDMI by right
clicking it and selecting make default.
- Close your media programs, and then re-open them and hit play.
