Windows 7 - access folder after re-install

Something happened to my hard drive the other day and it would not boot.  So I
reinstalled windows xp.  (I know...)  Anyway, I did not format the drive, so
now I can see my old <username> folder in Documents and Settings, but when I
try to open it, it says Access Denied.
Is there any way to access that folder again?

Windows 7 Windows 7 email program? What email should I use when I convert to Windows 7 in a few days? I must be able to easily convert thousands of emails other folders, maybe 3 or 4 deep.
