I have a problem with my removable disc drive ( D : ) ---- When I put a disc
in with songs loaded on it and try to open the disc it won't open . When I
right click the drive ( D : ) and click on " Explore files on disc " so that
I can view the song listings , windows takes me to the DESKTOP window instead.
If I open the disc using a media program such as Matchbox Music Plus It will
open the disc and list the song titles in the program. I have no problem with
files on the local hard drive ( C: ) or when opening a memory stick . Can
anybody give me direction as to how I can get this drive ( D: ) open and show
the disc contents when I right click and hit OPEN or EXPLORE .

To make sure your CD drive is D: and not another letter,
Right click My Computer, select Manage,
Select Disk Management,
Expand screen to full size so you can see all the drives.

OK, something to try,
Double click My Computer,
Right click the CD drive, and Properties,
Click the Autoplay tab,
Click - Select an action to perform and click Play, Apply and OK.

The drive will play all discs with appropriate program --- only problem is
getting windows to recognize the OPEN or EXPLORE drop downs and show contents
of disc ------- currently takes me to the DESKTOP instead of showing disc
contents.

Which version of Media Player do you have installed?
Version 11 is the latest one.

Usually when you insert a music disk,
Media player will open and show all the song titles.
But if you just open the drive, all you will see is the track numbers.
I have run out of idea's, sorry I can't help.
