Windows 7 - Standby Mode - Cannot wake up

I am having problems coming out of standby mode. Windows XPE goes to standby
mode when I pressed the "Standby" on bezel key of my display. Windows never
responds when its in "standby".

Do you know what could be the reason ?. My BIOS has some power settings S1,
S3 and S1/S3. The current setting is S3, I also tried S1. It didn't make any
difference.

One thing I should mention is that it was working fine with XP Pro.

Thanks

SC,

Can you clarify what do you mean by "Windows never responds when its in
Is it NOT coming out of the Standby if you press a key on the attached
keyboard? What keyboard/mouse do you use - PS/2, USB?

KM,

Yeah, its not responding to the keyboard. It is PS/2.

Windows XP Embedded is installed on a display. It has bezel keys, one of the
keys is the standby. When the standby key is pressed, I send scan code via
the PS/2 link to the computer running XPE. Windows responds to my scan code
and gets into standby mode. Now the problem is waking up. It never comes out
of standby. I am not sure if I am missing any components.

SC,

What scan code you are sending down to the XPe system? IS it your code that
puts the system into the sleep? If so, can you show us that piece of your
code?

Also, you can try and test the wake-up on your platform running XPe. All you
got to do is set up a wake-up time or task and then put it into the Standby.
You can do that either by setting up a Scheduled Task and set the "Wake up
the computer to run this task" checkbox or use 3rd party tools like
WakeOnStandBy (www.dennisbabkin.com/wosb).

Also, do you use the correct (ACPI) HAL component in your image?

Hi KM,

I am sending keyboard scan codes, scan 2 make code = 0xE0 3F and scan 2
brake code 0x E0 F0 3F.

It is working fine with Win XP Pro, I am able to go and come out of standby.
I suspect it is related to Minlogon, I am using Minlogon and it looks like
the task scheduler is not working properly. As a quick test, I have include
Winlogon and going to test it out. I am running FBA at the moment. Is there
any way I could use Minlogon and make the standby feature work ?.

thanks

KM,

It worked with Winlogon, do you know why Minlogon is not working ?. Is there
a patch for the standby/resume problem for Minlogon ?. Please let me know.

thanks

KM,

I am having problems with Windows XP Embedded standby mode. Win XP Pro is
working fine. I have included all the necessary ACPI components. I am using
Winlogon. Do you know what I may be missing ?. XP Embedded worked just once
and it stopped working. XP Pro is fine all the time.

thanks

Windows installer 3.1 & IE7 fails to install Windows 7 3 weeks ago I upgraded my motherboard, processor, RAM & display card. Since I can't clean install a new windows XP cause my old system has all needed programs & settings to my needs (very hard to get all of my programs needed) I used to option of repair install, inserted the XP CD that gave me "upgrading windows", & all went OK, new drivers installed, removed old ones. Funny thing is my IE7 is goes till the point where registry editing starts & stops installation & rolls back changes to IE6 & windows restarts. . Same when I try to update Windows installer to 3.1, it stops installation at the point or registry changing & rolls back

Why do you still use Windows XP? Windows 7 Give your reasons. Do you plan to upgrade ever? If so, when and why? If you use both XP and 7, do you ever plan on ditching XP for good? What will you do when support is dropped to the point where this OS will be problematic with new hardware? Personally I am waiting for Windows 8 to release a second service pack. XP sucked when it first came out until SP1. Even then, I find the moron-babysitting did not work, it had to enabled then disabled to be disabled for real. Sigh. . .
