Windows 7 - Bejeweled 2

Hi, I have this Bejeweled 2 Game I purchased from MSN Games Downloads a few
years ago. I???ve been playing the game for years without any problems until 2
weeks ago when it started to have problems keeping scores. I get an error
message that says ???Failed to create high score file???. When I click OK on the
message the game resumes, but all my scores, and those of other players in
the family are gone, and in their place are the fake scores that come
originally with the game. It is like when I fist downloaded it, except that
my name and my highest score and rank still shows at the bottom.

I uninstalled, and reinstalled the game several times from the site where I
bought it. (I have the download page saved). After y play the game and start
building up my scores, all of a sudden it stops and goes to the error
message, while all my new scores disappear again.

Then I uninstalled the game and reinstalled from a CD I had bought before,
and same thing happens

I contacted MSN Games Downloads, the site where I purchased the game. They
sent me a new Key for the game and a new download. I uninstalled the CD I had
downloaded, and installed from the site MSN sent me. Again the same thing
happened

Any idea what can be causing the problem? It seems like something is
interfering with it.

Windows XP/SP3, AVG Free 9.0, CCleaner 2.22,968, I keep my Windows Updates
up to date.

Sincerily,

I'm glad you mentioned you use CCleaner. CCleaner deleted a file that is needed by Bejeweled to save scores. I have the same problem and noticed after I installed and ran CCleaner (including the registry cleaner), Bejeweled no longer saves my score. I get the same error message as you do. Unfortunately, you will have to reinstall Bejeweled.

Bejeweled can download it from sites that do not pay money. ;) Also the game
may have been confused automatically. Just in case you download the game at
Sais where someone is not paid. ;) This can be a problem. And if you have
not much time is friction may also cause confusion in.;) Well I hope I
helped you;).

First off, it is CCleaner that removed an important file when you scanned the registry. Here is the line in the scan where you should right-click and add to the exclude list.

Problem: Missing MUI reference

Data: C:\Program Files\PopCap Games\Bejeweled 2 Deluxe\popcapgame1.exe

Registry Key: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\MUICache

HOW TO FIX: I've tried several methods of uninstalling/reinstalling. You can uninstall the program and delete all user data if you want but you don't have to. All you need to do is create a new user and play a classic game or timed game. After you have no more moves or time runs out, it will still not save your score. Play the game again and once that game is over, it should begin saving your scores. Go back to your original user account and begin a new game or finish an existing game. Your high scores should be saved from now on.

Hope this works for you! It seems to have worked for me. ;)

validate Windows XP Windows 7 Hello, I recently purchased a used computer from a private party with Win. XP professional installed. I was assured it was a legitimate version of Windows. I got online and tried to update Windows with the latest service packs and during install of SP2 got a message that my it would not install. I wondered what my options are to get my copy of Windows updated. I would really like to do this for security and compatibility reasons. Thanks in advance. J.
