Windows 7 - Intel Extreme Graphics

Wow... all these threads date three years back....

Is there ANY known fix for this... I've noticed all of these threads
about the subject of upgrading the craptacular Intel Extreme Graphics
to the Chaintech Nvidia FX 5200 video card has no seen solution. I've
been researching for a few weeks now and found nothing... absolutely
nothing on getting a permanent fix for this other than reformatting
but forget that, I will not do it.
I also get the same error of "New Hardware Found" when done with the
BIOS... and that's everyone's failed remedy.
Contacting Intel is hopeless... I never got a straight answer on how
to correct it. Nor did I think the support dude know how to fix it...
the best suggestion I got was to reformat... and then I got a refusal
when asking Intel to provide a legit copy of XP so I can, in fact,
reformat.... lol - HYPOCRITES

Extreme Graphics are usually built onto the motherboards. Unless the
motherboard is made by Intel, they will not help much. Locate the
motherboard's manual and find how to turn off the on-board video card
(Extreme Graphics) and then you should be able to install the
Chaintech card.

Actually thier is no "fix" to this, you simply need to follow some simple
instruct-
ions...In xp,open device mgr (extreme graphics running),expend the display
adapter tree,R.click the hardware, select "uninstall" do for all w/o
restarting,once
thru,exit,shutdown pc,install add-in video card.Start pc,in xp,open device
mgr,
re-uninstall extreme graphics, exit when thru, install new card with the wizard
(as it should have started),once thru, restart pc.Now both should be listed in
device mgr,new card will run. Also,i believe BIOS stays with intel selected
(not
new card) the reason, the OS will use the on-boards video memory along with
new cards memory & hardware....

Why do you still use Windows XP? Windows 7 Give your reasons. Do you plan to upgrade ever? If so, when and why? If you use both XP and 7, do you ever plan on ditching XP for good? What will you do when support is dropped to the point where this new hardware? Personally I am waiting for Windows 8 to release a second service pack. XP sucked when it first came out until SP1. Even then, I find the moron-babysitting not work, it had to enabled then disabled to be disabled for real. Sigh. . . OT? Windows 7: Faster than XP? Windows 7 I am one of those who will probably stick with XP until they are dragged kicking and screaming. . . . Having said that. . . . I have been fooling around boxes and am starting to think that, with enough memory, it might be faster than XP on the same PC.
