Something new has been happening with my Creative Zen Vision M which i
have had for 2 years with no problems. When I connect it to my laptop
it disconnects my wireless mouse/keyboard . If I unplug the wireless
mouse usb cable and plug it back in, as long as the MP3 player is
still connected the computer tells me that it has a usb device
connected which is not recognized and not working properly. If I
disconnect the MP3 player and plug back in the mouse cable, it works
fine.

Sounds like you may have an internal, onboard power problem. USB ports will
only support a certain current draw, and if the onboard chip is getting
weak, plugging a device in that was OK before may now be overloading it. A
work-around is to use a self-powered USB hub. I had to do that on my system-
I bought a Xbox360 controller to use for gaming, and as soon as I plug it
in, my external USB sound device would quit. Buying a self-powered hub fixed
it.

I totally do not understand the thinking behind trying to hang onto an old OS years after support has ended, referring specifically to anything before XP. I know of a few minded person, and we decided [since she was / is unlikely to change again for many years] that a 7 machine was probably more future-proof. I was to "set it up submission. XP is more or less in that position; '98 was, maybe four or five years ago. For us, yes. But for the ever-increasing numbers of new computer users (at are still using W2k and XP, I'd say a large majority, quite a few years after Vista and 7 have been released. Even after two years or more, I never learned where tab would take me. Other than that freak of 3.1, 95, and 98, although I cannot use them for about the last 10 years or so. Lack of drivers is probably the worst. And lack of application support is ram and had buggy hardware drivers AND application programs. Over the next 2 to 4 years drivers and software improved.
