Windows 7 - Plugging in My MP3 Player Knocks out My Wireless Mouse/Keyboard

Something new has been happening with my Creative Zen Vision M which i
have had for 2 years with no problems. When I connect it to my laptop
it disconnects my wireless mouse/keyboard . If I unplug the wireless
mouse usb cable and plug it back in, as long as the MP3 player is
still connected the computer tells me that it has a usb device
connected which is not recognized and not working properly. If I
disconnect the MP3 player and plug back in the mouse cable, it works
fine.

Sounds like you may have an internal, onboard power problem. USB ports will
only support a certain current draw, and if the onboard chip is getting
weak, plugging a device in that was OK before may now be overloading it. A
work-around is to use a self-powered USB hub. I had to do that on my system-
I bought a Xbox360 controller to use for gaming, and as soon as I plug it
in, my external USB sound device would quit. Buying a self-powered hub fixed
it.
