Windows 7 - saving an edited wmv file in movie maker

Hi -
I recorded a 1 hour webinar in .wmv format. I used movie maker to edit out
some dead air at beginning and a glitch in the middle. That all seemed to
work fine, but when I save the changes, it starts to save, but goes super
slow and basically never gets past 7%.

I tried this on 2 PCs. Any hints on how to get this to save?
Any other free software that could edit this file (and manage to save it?)

Dare I say it, I even tried to move it to an imac and use imovie, but the
converting software I found completely lost the sync between vide and audio
portions (by a minute or more)

Thanks!

Maybe the file is corrupted in some way.....

I wonder if you could save the file if you just
drag it to the timeline and do not edit it?
...File / Save Movie File...

If that works...you could reimport the Movie
Maker version and maybe you could edit and
save it.

Also you could try importing it into the following
freeware and convert it from .wmv to .wmv (this
will create a new file that may work better)

(FWIW...it is always a good idea to create a System
Restore point before installing software or updates)

Format Factory

(FWIW...when installing...you may want to uncheck
all the boxes on the final screen)

Also the following freeware has some video
editing options:

Why do you still use Windows XP? Windows 7 Give your reasons. Do you plan to upgrade ever? If so, when and why? If you use both XP and 7, do you ever plan on ditching XP for good? What will you do when support is dropped to the point where this OS will be problematic with new hardware? Personally I am waiting for Windows 8 to release a second service pack. XP sucked when it first came out until
