Windows 7 - Shared files over a network within same workgroup

I need to share files in computer A with some selected user but not others.
I am using 2 computers running on XP Pro SP3. I followed the steps in
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/maintain/share.mspx to
set up the folder share. When I navigate from computer B's network places, I
can see the shared folder I setup for it in computer A. When i double click
on it, I get an access denied error (not accessible). When I right click on
the folder and choose map network drive and then connect using different
username, and the enter the credentials for the user \\A\username that I
created for this purpose, the do not get accepted. What am I doing wrong?

Have you also assigned permissions in the security tab? Or this search

Hi
Make sure that the Software Firewall on each computer allows free local
traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall On, Vista/XP Native Firewall should
be Off, and the active Firewall has to adjusted to your Network IP numbers
on what is some time called the Trusted Zone (consult your 3rd Party
Firewall instructions.

Then it could be a 3rd party security software. For troubleshooting, try
clean boot on both computers.

Thanks. I figure it out. I had removed the Everyone from the permissions
instead of removing it from the security, and that did it. Once I gave read
permission to everyone but security access only to the selected users,
everything worked fine. Also matched usernames and passwords to avoid
authentication problems and that did it.
