Windows 7 - Msconfig.exe Startup Tab is there but not TOOLS

Hi,

Msconfig.exe Startup Tab is the last one there but not the TOOLS tab.

Is there a fix for this? The 906569 update was DL'ed and run but it is for
Srv Pak 2. If SRV Pak 3 is installed but no TOOLS tab what would you do?

This article describes the new Tools tab that is available in the System
Configuration utility (Msconfig.exe). The new Tools tab is available after
you install the 906569 update on a Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2
(SP2)-based computer.

XP Home with Srv Pak 3.

Thank you for your quick response.

I would make sure that you are using the same copy of [msconfig.exe] as stored in the
folder :

*%SystemRoot%\ServicePackFiles\i386

*(Assuming you have, indeed, installed SP3)

Thank you Tim that was the problem. The older version was from 2004.
It all works perfect now.
Thank you for the Quick Response.

Dual-boot XP / XP? Windows 7 I have been running a dual-boot (Win98 / XP) system ever since a couple of programs I needed to use were only compatible with newer machine, so I was wondering if anyone else has been using a dual-boot "XP / XP" configuration? The reason I am considering another dual-boot system is that it was easy to clone the XP partitions with Win98, to make a spare HDD in case of a crash, rather than never losing any. With this in mind, I was going to set up the main XP OS again on the D-drive (data on drive E, etc), while the C-drive
