Windows 7 - RDP Connection Method

Hello. Please redirect me to a more appropriate NG if this issue is not
suitable for this one.

I am no longer able to RDP to XP client machines inside our corporate
network using the MACHINE NAME. I have recently discovered that the
MACHINE NAME will not connect me to an RDP enabled PC. I can connect
using the IP address after looking for the lease inside the DHCP
console. DHCP addresses are assigned from this Windows 2003 controller.
Note that until I just discovered this problem, the MACHINE NAME *did*
function and resolve to the correct IP connection.

Basic network infrastructure is Windows 2003 Standard Active Directory
with two (2) Backup Controllers.

What steps would someone recommend to flush/re-populate/remedy this
problem at the server or other level?

Thanks.

I assume you do not mean the fully-qualified domain name.

Resolution of the NETBIOS name is by WINS, by a HOSTS file, or by a feature
in Windows to append and try domain names from a list in each computer.

There is a Microsoft tool called NBLOOKUP (
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/830578 ) that may help you find the problem.

OS: Windows XP is MUCH better than Windows Vista Windows 7 and here are just a few of be very true: 1) Incompatibility (Driver / Software handshaking issues) Nearly everything ran super smooth in XP from day one It was a root canal getting even some of the simplest software an I-net site. It's a horrible experience just looking your screen. 3) Instability XP crashed on me once in over five years. Vista crashed the first day! The list to waste commenting on Gates shotty work. MS is infamous for peddling half-baked software. XP was the exception. It is wonderful. MS hit a wall with Vista, a solid cement wall. Gates should have stuck with XP and simply added features, but the temptation for profit once again won out (Gates can make much more money with a new OS than simply improving past software). Keep your XP until an actual upgrade becomes available. If you've already took the plunge, return it 8624. Why do you still use Windows XP? Windows 7 Give your reasons. Do you plan to upgrade ever? If so, when and why? If you use both XP and 7, do you ever plan on ditching XP for good? What will you do when support is dropped to the point where this new hardware? Personally I am waiting for Windows 8 to release a second service pack. XP sucked when it first came out until SP1. Even then, I find the moron-babysitting not work, it had to enabled then disabled to be disabled for real. Sigh. . .
