Windows 7 - Heavy Web site loading -- Explorer vs. Firefox

When I go to
http://www.wqxr.org/#/playlists/q2/
which is a heavy, (and poorly designed) Web site,
with Explorer 7 vs. Firefox 8, I find that
1. Explorer takes way longer to load the page than Firefox
2. The player (on clicking the "Play" button in the upper left
corner of the page) sounds much better with Explorer than
with Firefox when piped through my stereo system.

Can anybody explain what is behind these differences? Alternatively,
is there another newsgroup that is better for answering this kind of
question?

1.  Firefox is (for your purposes) a better browser than IExplorer
2.  We need first to know your sound system (hardware) and
how it is configured (software).

The hardware is a conventional high-end stereo
system fed from the audio output (the green-coded
receptacle) of the computer. Same setup for both
Explorer and Firefox, so the difference has to be
in the player software that drives the audio card.
Explorer's default player has a better overall
frequency response than Firefox's. The low-frequency
end is noticeably richer.

I think the answer is going to come down to the
differences in the default player software between
the two browsers, since I click on the same "play"
button on the Web page in either case.
