Windows 7 - Windows Updates vs. Updates?

Asked By charlie on 07-Aug-12 02:40 PM
I am running WinXP-SP3 and in Windows Updates page, there is a
note/link to update to Microsoft Updates. What is the difference
between the existing Windows Updates process and this new Microsoft
Updates. Wondering if I should upgrade to it?

Thanks for any insights.

Windows Updates may not include updates for some of your software. Office,
Windows Live apps, etc. Microsoft updates will include updates for all MS
programs installed.

So, do you suggest I update to it on WinXP?
Thanks

Yes. It cannot hurt and it very well may help.

One other question. I have current Windows Updates set to "notify me"
when updates are available and not to automatically update. Is that
same option available in Microsoft Updates or is it just automatic?
Bruce Hagen replied to charlie on 07-Aug-12 04:51 PM
Same options as WU.

Well, Bruce,

I made the update and ran Microsoft Updates and received the following

Check that your computer's date and time, as well as time zone, are set
correctly... double-click the clock in the taskbar in the lower right
corner of your screen, and adjust if necessary, click OK to close.
