Wireless 360, computer, network

Asked By Guy

Hello all. I have a wireless Xbox 360, W7 wireless computer, and a Linksys
WRT120N router.
Both the computer and xbox can access the internet thru the router, the
computer can see
the Xbox on the network but I cannot get the xbox and media center to hook
up!
Any suggestions would be welcome. I also have a wireless printer that all 3
of my computers can print to..

Thanks, Guy

I am assuming you are using a PC with Windows Media Center.

I am assuming you are using a PC with Windows Media Center. Have you worked
with the Sharing/Library settings?

My desktop Windows 7 is running media center.

Not sure which sharing and library settings you are referring to.
I have not set up anything special for either of those, yet!

In Media Player one can set these things up.

In Media Player one can set these things up. I believe MP is the
center-point for library/media file handling even on non-Media Center
Windows installations; other makers' apps are replicating this functionality
(Nero, Sony) but not as well. I had thought that in a Media Center install
the sharing/library handling was automatically done, by my experience with
an MC laptop - but under regular Windows (XP,v7) Media Player has to be
loaded and actively sharing the media library in order for changes or
additions to be reflected in access by other computers on the LAN. That
being said it might be a bit of a resource-drag for Media Player to stay
loaded 24/7 if it is on a computer being used as more than a media server.

By theory Windows Media Center should do this without Media Player being
loaded, but I suspect you first need to tell it that this is what you want
done. I think you should have some results if you run Media Player then
check Tools/Options/Library-Sharing, and make sure it is actually sharing the
media on that computer. Depending on your volume of stuff to be
scanned/searched/shared, it might take a little while, but not much. HTH.
